Simulators

For practical training in drilling and well techniques and pressure control we use only simulators supplied by CS Inc., Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.

NPS and CS collaborate on an ongoing basis in the further development of the simulator software. The next few years will see major resources being put into the development of self-study software on the topics of stuck pipe and lost circulation.

Ultra Light:

This simulator consists of two panels. Manifold settings and settings of the control panel for the blowout preventer (BOP) are screen-based. Alarm settings, drilling operations and out-circuation of well-kicks are performed using the panels. The simulator has been approved for the IWCF's practical simulator tests.

Computer Rig Floor Simulator (CRS):

This is a PC-based simulator. Manifold settings and settings of the control panel for the blowout preventer (BOP), alarm settings, drilling operations and out-circulation of well-kicks are all screen-based. All operations are performed using the mouse and keyboard.
